Description

The various functions of language in society determine the direction of their study. In this regard, this article examines the cumulative function of the language, which has recently become the object of research in sociolinguistics, ethnolinguistics, linguistic-cultural studies, pragmatics, etc. More precisely, the role of the cumulative function of language in speech acts is analyzed. And why we consider this language function in speech acts? Because it is the cumulative function that most often fails in understanding the speakers. The fact is that the cumulative function is based on the fact that the language accumulates the experience of this or that people, which naturally should be different from the experience of another. A speech act is a purposeful speech, which proceeds from the basic principles and rules of speech in a particular society. The main features of speech acts are intentionality, dedication, and convention.
Moreover, the influence of the cumulative function of a language on a linguistic personality for the formation of not only communicative and linguistic competence but also culturing will be considered.
