Research interests

Professor Didier Talamona, Associate Professor of the school of engineering and digital sciences (SEDS), Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, Nazarbayev University. Didier Talamona received his PhD in engineering sciences from the University Blaise Pascal, France. He was the Chair of the Institutional Research Ethics Committee at NU (2018-2019). His current research interest is in additive manufacturing, metal powder, recycling, green materials and sustainability. He was appointed as expert evaluator for EU – Horizon 2020 in Sustainability. He has been awarded over US$5MM in research funding in the EU, Singapore and Australia.

His current research interests are: Additive Manufacturing, 3D printing, Production of metal powders, metal powders properties, sustainable development.

His lab is well equipped with: SLA printers (2 Formlabs XL, FFF printer (several Ultimaker S3 and S5), Metal printer Renishaw AM400, atomizer Atolab+, Tensile test machine, CMM (Zeiss 3d scanning system T10 and Duramax 5/5/5), Rheometer for metal powder etc.

He was recently awarded several grants to investigate:

1. Lattice structures

2. AI - Machine learning for Additive Manufacturing

3. Food 3D printing.
