Fundamental characterization and applications: e.g., wastewater treatment, bioelectrochemical sensors for environmental monitoring, bioelectrochemical processes, bioremediation of metal and contaminants, energy conversion processes in biofilms, biosynthetic nanomaterials.

Control of biofilms through nanoparticles, antimicrobials and ultrasound for biomedical applications; Metal-microorganism interactions and microbially influenced corrosion at ambient pressure and under deep-sea conditions.
