Professional Information

Ernazar joined the Physics Department of the School of Science and Technology of the Nazarbayev University as an Assistant Professor during the summer of 2014. His research focuses on computational and theoretical astrophysics, particularly explosive cosmic events such as supernovae and gamma-ray bursts. He develops computational models and analyzes observational data, including from the NU rapid-response telescope. More broadly, his work spans fluid and plasma dynamics, gravitational waves, nuclear and neutrino astrophysics, radiation transport, and high-performance computing. He received his PhD in October 2009 at SISSA. Before joining Nazarbayev University, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the Louisiana State University, California Institute of Technology, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
