GALYMZHAN NAURYZBAYEV was born in Akshatau, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan, in May 1987. He received the B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Hons.) degrees in Radio Engineering, Electronics, and Telecommunications from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunication, Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2009 and 2011, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Wireless Communications from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he held several academic and research positions at Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan) and L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan). In 2019, he joined Nazarbayev University as an Assistant Professor.
Currently, Dr. Nauryzbayev has been working (since August 2024) as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (NU).
His research interests lie in wireless communication systems, with a particular focus on reconfigurable intelligent surface-enabled communication systems, cognitive radio, communication theory, energy harvesting, visible light communications, NOMA, interference mitigation, etc. He has served as a Technical Program Committee Member at numerous IEEE flagship conferences.
In 2022, Galymzhan received the "Best Researcher" award from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2023, Galymzhan was awarded a State Research scholarship by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Currently, Galymzhan serves (since May 2024) as the Chair of the National Research Council (on Advanced Manufacturing, Digital and Space Technologies) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
