Professional Information

Dr. Ghazal Ghahramany has received her Ph.D. degree in Nutrition from Texas A&M University, USA in 2012. Shortly after graduation she became a faculty member at Blinn College, teaching Anatomy and Physiology courses. During her transition to Istanbul, Turkey in the summer of 2014, she was offered an online teaching position from the same college in Bryan, Texas where she has taught “Nutrition and Diet Therapy” courses for several years prior to joining Nazarbayev University in 2020. Currently, she is the the course lead of “Nutrition in Sports and Exercise” as well as “Ethics and Professionalism” at “Master in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation” (MSMR) program.

Her recent research interest at NUSOM has been “Intermittent Fasting” (IF) in humans. She is working with medical students on a longitudinal scholarly project to study one of the most popular IF regimens, known as time-restricted eating in men and women. Participants will be checked and monitored for several months to observe short- and long-term effects of IF on weight loss, inflammation and some of the specific risk factors related to cardiovascular diseases.
