Professional Information

Dr. Hoyoun Koh joined the faculty of Nazarbayev University in Fall 2016 after completing his doctoral degree at the University of Maryland. Before his doctoral training, Dr. Koh worked for Ilmin International Relations Institute in Seoul, where he researched the US-Korea alliance and security relations in East Asia.
He specializes in political analysis, experimental design, and East Asia. His research interest covers a range of topics, including voting behavior, public perceptions on foreign policies, gender, identity politics, and nuclear proliferation. In terms of methodology, his research employs both qualitative and quantitative, both observational and experimental design. His works have been published in Electoral Studies, Political Behavior, Journal of Asian Sociology, Demokratizatsiya, and North Korean Review
