Dr. Sonny Irawan obtained a BSc, MSc and Ph.D. in Drilling Engineering. Dr. Sonny Irawan has more than 20 years of experience in the petroleum industry and academia, with key qualifications and research in drilling and production equipment, drilling technology, integrated computer aided analysis, well completion, design of down hole and surface equipment, software development, EOR, unconventional resources and geothermal wells, and in the design of laboratory specific equipment (i.e. high pressure testing, large scale testing equipment for multiphase flow and drilling process simulation).
Research interests
My research activity has focused on Drilling Engineering, Geomechanics study, Well Completion engineering, Reservoir engineering and socio-economic and environment. My own projects have been focused on the drilling fluid formulation for High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and green cementing using geo-polymer material, but I have also been involved in numerous other related projects investigating, for example, geothermic and geothermal studies, coalbed methane (CBM) and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) – Foam Flooding Monitoring.
