Dr. Jonas P. Cruz is a nurse, a nurse educator, and a nurse scientist. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Management, Master's of Arts in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Philippines. He is a registered nurse in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Cruz has been a nurse educator since 2008, four years in the Philippines and nine years in Saudi Arabia. Before joining Nazarbayev University, he served as a lecturer for nursing, the head of the Scientific Research and Post-Graduate Studies Unit, and the head of the Nursing Program at Shaqra University, Al Dawadmi, Saudi Arabia. He also served as a visiting faculty for the Graduate Program of Union Christian College in the Philippines. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Quality in Health Care (ISQua). Dr. Cruz is an Associate Editor at Nursing Open, Academic Editor at Nursing Forum and PloS One, and a reviewer in various nursing and health-related journals, such as Journal of Advanced Nursing, Nurse Education Today, Journal of Clinical Nursing, Nurse Education Today, Journal of Nursing Management, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, Nurse Education in Practice, Clinical Nursing Research, BMJ Open, Contemporary Nurse, Journal of Renal Care, Saudi Medical Journal, Journal of Religion and Health, International Journal for Quality in Health Care, and Journal of Infection and Public Health. Dr. Cruz is involved in various research projects in nursing, nursing education, nursing leadership and management, holistic nursing, spirituality and health, evidence-based nursing practice, infection control and prevention, tool development and psychometric analysis, women's empowerment and health, and environmental sustainability in nursing. Since 2020, Dr. Cruz has been included in the World's Top 2% Scientist List published by Elsevier. He is a member of the Philippines Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International.
