Personal profile

Marina Khvan graduated from Kazakh National Medical University named after S. Zh. Asfendiyarov, Almaty, Kazakhstan with a Doctor of Medicine degree. She worked as a pediatric nephrologist in Republic Pediatric Hospital «Aksai» and since 2007, as a nephrologist at National Research Center for Maternal and Child Health.
 
She completed her primary specialization in Nephrology and Dialysis and continued her specialization in Interventional Nephrology as a visiting clinical fellow at San Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy. In 2009 Dr. Khvan worked as a clinical fellow in Nephrology in the Department of Internal Medicine, Kyungpook National University Hospital (Daegu, South Korea) with a specialization in Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). After finishing her fellowship, she with her colleagues Dr. Altynova and Dr.Bamish successfully introduced PD as a treatment option for the first time in Kazakhstan. In 2013 Dr.Khvan completed her Clinical Fellowship in Interventional Nephrology and Transplantation in the Transplantation Center and Division of Nephrology of Seoul St. Maries’ Hospital (Catholic University of Korea, Seoul, South Korea).
 
She is an active member of the Kazakh Nephrology Association, European Renal Association, International Society of Nephrology, International Pediatric Nephrology Association
