Project Description

The main objective of the research is to develop a model to estimate roadheader performance in mining and civil construction using several alternative model techniques and statistical analysis. For this aim, it is necessary to investigate the relationships between geotechnical and the machine parameters, classification of rock material and rock masses based on cutability and boreability characteristics. This will allow developing new equations for roadheader performance using worldwide database which will be established base on different projects including Turkey, Iran, USA, Europe as well as Kazakhstan. Three main steps including literature review, visiting ongoing possible project sites and collaboration with well-known institutes (such as Colorado School of Mines, Istanbul Technical University and construction sites) will be followed to develop proper database. Some personal communication with those institutes has already been made and they are willing to share their experience, knowledge and available data with research team for this project. Indeed, the project will be conducted together with couple researchers working for those universities. Five different work packages will be conducted to obtain the aim.
