Project Description

ArcKAZ takes an interdisciplinary breadth that will expose pathways for sustainable archaeology and science and ultimately bring workable solutions to problems of climate crisis. We will yield empirical results of value to academic, social, and economic circles seeking responsible, sustainable, and rational means of resource utilization and conservation of Kazakhstan's pastoral heritage. Anticipated outcomes of the project will provide deep time environmental and hydrological reconstructions of the micro-regional laboratory of the Kokentau Foothills located in northeastern Kazakhstan, which contains over 5000 years of mobile pastoral history.
