Project Description

The goal of this project is to study sand production mechanisms in relation to deformational characteristics and microstructural transformation of the rock material around a perforation hole in weak sandstones using sand production experiments and microstructure testing facilities, which are combined with analytical and numerical tools. Constitutive models of weak sandstone for the sand production framework will be developed and incorporated into the sand production prediction models. The research outcomes will advance the understanding of sand production mechanisms as well as wellbore stability problems and will be beneficial to the oil and gas industries.
