Project Description
This project aims to access low-rank Kazakh bituminous coal and biomass using fluidized bed combustion (FBC) by implementing in an oxy-firing environment. The introduction of FBC technology to Kazakh energy system is very important to reduce growing greenhouse gas emissions, and allow utilization of low-rank coals co-fired with biomass/municipal solid wastes. The project will conduct FBC oxy-fuel tests at bench-scale rig. In addition a process modelling will be developed and validated with the experimental data which will also help to investigate the techno-economic analysis of the system.
