Project Description

This research attempts to study detailed features of Teniz basin to evaluate the occurrence of mineralization based on basin analysis, mapping, sedimentological, lithological, and mineralogical approaches.
This proposal attempts to fulfill the following objectives:
a) Review of lithological facies and structural characteristics of the Teniz sedimentary basin and comparison to equivalent basins within Kazakhstan and in the world,
b) Sedimentological, stratigraphic, and lithological study of the Vladimirov Suite associated with the SSC-type copper mineralization systems of the Teniz basin,
c) Details of mineralogy, elemental distribution, geochemical zonation of SSC-type mineralization in the Teniz basin,
d) Synopsis of controlling factors of mineralization in the Teniz basin,
e) The role of evaporites and organic matter in the formation of SSC-type of the Teniz basin,
f) Paleo-climate and paleo-environment reconstruction of the Teniz basin,
g) Conclusions for prospecting of other sedimentary basins of Kazakhstan for the occurrence of copper and critical metals via comparison with the results of this research
