Project Description

The fundamental goal of this research is to create an innovative wireless sensor framework enabling high-fidelity seismic data acquisition for enhanced characterization of oil and gas reserves in Kazakhstan. The application demands associated with seismic surveys are extreme, requiring from 3K to 100K sensor nodes to collect data simultaneously, generating many terabytes of data. While some commercial solutions are available, all fall short in some aspect. We propose to develop a wireless sensor framework that can overcome these demands through twelve tasks in four specific work packages.
