Abstract
In the monograph, the issues of the linguistic specificity of toponyms are addressed, and issues related to the standardization and unification of geographical names and their legal regulation in the Republic of Kazakhstan are raised. On the basis of toponymic names of such megalopolises as Astana and Almaty, the variability of geographical names and their cross-linguistic transfer are analyzed. The undertaken research opens perspectives both for a deeper study of the regional toponymic space, and for a complex, systematized approach to this process on an international scale.
The monograph is of interest to toponymy researchers,
ethnolinguists, sociolinguists, as well as can be useful to geographers, historians, ethnographers and everyone who is interested in onomastics.
