Abstract

Telegram is a widely-used, cloud-based messaging application with a focus on speed and security. Telegram bots have been used to control household devices in smart homes recently. This paper proposes an approach to use the Telegram bots as communication interfaces between the user and robots equipped with programming by demonstration. One of the main advantages of the proposed scheme is its ease of use, as most people are using a messaging application, which fundamentally would be similar to Telegram. Therefore, there would be no (or very little) need for additional training for the operators. The proposed human-robot interaction framework is applied to communicate with robots in recording demonstrations, performing tasks programmed by demonstration, and successfully sending commands and receiving the status of the robots.
