N2 - Abstract. Currently, language policy is one of the most important goals in the social modernization of Kazakhstani society. The Republic of Kazakhstan is on the path to implementing the cultural project “The Trinity of Languages”, the purpose of which is to master by the Kazakhstani people three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English. In this article the term “trilingualism”, and the role and significance of each language separately: the Kazakh language as the state language, Russian as lingua franca in international communication and the importance of English as a language for successful integration into the world economy will be analyzed, as well as the results of a sociological survey among adult residents of the Turkestan oblast of the Republic of Kazakhstan analyzed. Based on the results of the survey, the resident’s levels in Kazakh and Russian languages and the key factors in studying the English language defined, and the significance of the cultural program “Trilingualism” among the residents of the region was determined.
