Abstract
The application of the Ott, Grebogi and Yorke (OGY) scheme and some of its variants to the Ikeda-Hammel-Jones-Maloney map are discussed here. The Ikeda map can be envisioned as arising from a string of light pulses of intracavity amplitude impinging on a partially transmitting mirror of a ring cavity with a nonlinear dispersive medium. It is assumed here that the time interval between the pulses is adjusted to the round-trip travel time in the ring cavity.
