Design and Development of a Smart 'Baby NO CRY' Cradle

Abstract

There has long been a demand for a brand-new, lower-priced electronic cradle that could rival the expensive, currently imported ones. Nevertheless, except for the price, there is a limitation in the existing studies of the electronic cradles since they have only one intensity of the swing and omit the lullaby. Gentle, and regular movements that imitate the motion they felt in the womb are soothing to infants. A fussy or restless baby may be more easily calmed and lulled to sleep in a cradle with a more substantial swing. The importance of adding music sounds with swinging is that it can influence the child's development. Hence, the research aims to create an electronic cradle that is able to alter swing intensity and lullaby sound regarding a baby's cry amplitude to calm the baby. This paper describes creating and designing a modern, inexpensive, and indigenous 'Baby NO CRY' smart electronic cradle. First, the sound analyzing system detects the infant's cry, and the cradle starts swinging until the sound stops; second, in addition to the swinging, the lullaby is integrated to be played to calm the baby. According to the intensity of the voice, the cradle will swing at three speeds (high, medium, and low), and the loudness of the lullaby also has three volumes in conformity with the swing speeds. Thus, this intelligent cradle model calms the baby instantly and provides restful sleep, allowing parents to care for infants without any interaction while working on or doing some other things.
