N2 - The nonlinear behaviour of PFR-Separation-Recycle systems is analysed in terms of state multiplicity, instability and unfeasibility. These phenomena can occur for practical situations, as demonstrated by the HDA case study. They can be avoided by sufficient reactor cooling, high reactor-inlet temperature or fixed-recycle plantwide control.
