Abstract

This paper highlights the development of a multi-material Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)-based 3D printer for polymer powder. It elaborates on the technical approach of the design of an additive system on the utilization of polymer powder. This type of SLS printer is rare in the market due to its difficulties in controlling chamber temperatures as well as determining a specific laser power for sintering polymer powder. The novel design consists of a few sub-systems such as laser, and optical devices. For each subsystem, the best printing parameters are investigated in the laboratory. In addition, a multi-layer sample part printed with this developed printer is demonstrated in this paper.
