Abstract

Considering the random characteristics of polymer adsorption and the effect of excluded volume interactions between polymer chains on the adsorption behavior of polycarboxylate-based (PCE) superplasticizers at the cement particle-water interfaces, the adsorption isotherms and adsorption kinetic curves are calculated under the theoretical framework of random sequential adsorption (RSA) model. This work presents our attempt to go beyond the simple Langmuir adsorption model to understand the complex adsorption behavior of PCEs on cement particles.
