Abstract

The electro-refractive modulation in ring resonators was investigated. MMI couplers were used to provide reproducible coupling ratios. The ring resonators were fabricated in InGaAsP/InP using 25 quantum wells with a photoluminescence wavelength of 1415 nm. Electrical contacts were formed on top of the ring-waveguide and to the n-substrate to enable modulation. The modulation depth of the signal is retrieved with a network analyzer, while the wavelength is scanned.
