Emotional intelligence and teacher leadership development in schools in the UK and Kazakhstan

Abstract

This article explores the link between emotional intelligence and teacher leadership development in schools in the UK and Kazakhstan. The ideas shared in this article are based on the 20 years of experience of HertsCam Network and a three-year initiative called ‘Teacher Leadership in Kazakhstan’ (TLK). The article draws on the narratives of facilitators, who have been providing support for teacher leadership in their schools. The outcome of this exploration indicates the centrality of emotional intelligence to leadership and capacity building in schools.
