Abstract

Denizli graben basin occupies on west Anatolian extensional region where is east of intersect of B. Menderes and Gediz graben. The graben is restricted by normal faults from north and south. This study is the application of engineering geology for the Denizli additional industrial area where to open urbanization. In the area, as a result of general geology studies, 14 research trenches with 2-to 4m and 8 boreholes with 10 meter depth were drilled. Along the boreholes, standard penetration tests (SPT) were performed for each 1,5m depth. On the collected disturbed soil samples, along the boreholes, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits were conducted while sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, consolidation and shear strength test were conducted on the undisturbed samples that were collected from trenches. Along the opened boreholes, ground water level was measured. In the study area, geotechnical studies and liquefaction analysis was performed. As a result of measured soil engineering parameters and earthquake magnitude that was assumed in the area, observed that some part of the area could be liquefied easily. Geotechnical urbanization mapping was performed as a result of the geotechnical investigation.
