This book aims to delve into how women entrepreneurs navigate and redefine their roles during turbulent times, encompassing wars, conflicts, pandemics, regime changes, environmental disasters, and climate change. In this introductory chapter, the editors outline the aims of the book, explain the structure, and discuss the themes covered by the ten contributing authors/author teams. Each chapter delves into different facets of women’s entrepreneurial experiences during periods of upheaval and change, offering a comprehensive exploration of the various dimensions of women's entrepreneurship in the face of adversity and transformation. Through this exploration, the editors and chapter authors contribute to the ongoing debate on the contextual embeddedness of women-owned enterprises and stimulate further research and action in this critical area of study.
