Abstract

In this study, a facile urea homogeneous precipitation method was used to prepare luminescent Y2O3:Eu3+ nanoparticles (NPs). The morphology, structure and optical properties of prepared nanoparticles were characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL). Under the constant 254 nm UV light illumination, the prepared Y2O3:Eu3+ NPs exhibited strong red emission with the highest peak centered at 612 nm. The prepared nanoparticles were further utilized as the optical contrast material for latent fingerprint detection on different surfaces.
