Non-linear behaviour of PFR-separator-recycle polymerization systems

Abstract

This work investigates the non-linear behaviour of PFR-Separator-Recycle systems with reference to radical polymerization. In Reactor-Separator-Recycle systems, feasible operation is possible only if the reactor volume exceeds a critical value (i.e. Da>Dacr). Generic reaction models of different complexities are considered. A Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) process is presented as an example.
