Novel Approach Improving Quality Factor of Miniature Slotted Resonators in Near-Field WPTs

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

This paper presents a new simple method to enhance the quality factor (Q) of small-size slotted resonators applicable for wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. The employed spiral-type slots were thoroughly analyzed to determine their optimum parameters for the high Q achievement. It was also revealed that integrating a metal streak into the resonator structure positively affects the overall performance. In particular, the aptly implemented modification resulted in a 17.8% increase in Q compared to the initial resonator. Finally, these newly designed resonators were used in the development of near-field WPT.
