Abstract
Nysanbay Zhyrau is a representative of the Kazakh oral literary tradition of the 19th century. The poet’s creative heritage is permeated with the liberating idea of restoring national statehood. The historical poem Nysambai Zhyrau "Kenisary-Nauryzbay" is a valuable source of the history of the liberation struggle of the Kazakh people. Nysambay Zhyrau was a participant in the liberation uprising of Kenesar Kasymov, objectively described the events in the Kazakh steppe. The poet’s work clearly reflects the socio-political contradictions in the steppe, the transformation of traditional Kazakh society under the influence of imperial politics in the first half of the 19th century.
