Observation of conical diffraction in photonic Lieb lattices

Abstract

We demonstrate conical diffraction in photonic Lieb lattices in fused silica glass. In contrast to Dirac fermions in photonic graphene here the conical intersections with flat band in lattice spectrum support eigenstates with integer pseudospin.
