Preliminary absolute frequency measurement of a diode laser locked to a two-photon hyperfine transition of rubidium at 385 THz

Abstract

We have performed a first preliminary measurement of the absolute frequency (v= 385.285 THz, λ= 778.1 nm) of a diode laser frequency-stabilized to the (Fg=3, Fe=5) hyperfine component of the 5S 1/2 - 5D5/2 two-photon absorption of 85Rb, using a frequency chain which synthesizes the 13th harmonic of our laboratory CO2/OsO4 frequency standard at 29 THz.
