Preparation of a piezoelectric PVDF sensor via electrospinning

Abstract

In recent years, high growth in robotics and automation fields, increased the demand of tactile sensors that are designed to detect various information by physical contact, have gained much importance in the development of biomedicine, social assistance, and industry. Piezoelectric tactile sensors fabricated from polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) are used to sense vibrations because of their high sensitivity, mechanical flexibility, multi-technology compatibility, and stability and cheaper cost. The analysis of the accepted design of the sensor as two layers of the PVDF and aluminum electrode in between was performed using COMSOL Multiphysics software. The paper aims to study the electrical properties of sandwich structured tactile sensors and validate as use of piezoelectricity of PVDF in sensor design. The obtained results from the simulation as 0.5 V when 42 N/cm2 stress is applied helps to optimize the development of sensors and allow their adjustments by comparing the analytical results of different output signal changes, eigenfrequency, vibration amplitude, and applied pressure to the film.
