Abstract
This chapter in the edited volume "Kazakhstan in the Making" explores aspect of the state constrcution in Kazakhstan on the local level.Based on the case of teh creation of a new shrine in a small in small city of southern Kazakhstan, Schwab and Bigozhin demonstrate how much the secular evereday space and the religious one are intimately articulated.
