Simulation of a polymerization laminar flow reactor

Abstract

The paper presents a simulation study of the methyl methacrylate solution polymerization process occurring in a laminar flow tubular reactor. The simulation results are evidencing the main particularities of the polymerization process induced by the laminar flow of the reaction mixture, as well as the practical suitability of this operating regime. The influence of the main process parameters on the reactor behavior is investigated. Also a comparison of the process simulation results obtained in laminar flow and plug flow assumptions is presented.
