The experimental determination of the interaction force on spheres submerged in liquid fluidized beds

Abstract

Simple experiments yield general correlations for the interaction force experienced by a sphere of any diameter that is submerged in a liquid fluidized bed. The results confirm the well-known relationship for submerged objects substantially larger than the fluidized particles and approach the appropriately modified 'unhindered' limit for very small submerged spheres.
