The unexpected ancestry of Inner Asian mummies

Abstract

The genomes of Bronze Age mummies in the Tarim Basin in northwest China suggest that these individuals descended from an ancient population local to Asia that remained genetically isolated despite involvement in cultural interactions that spanned Eurasia.
