Thermal properties of the midinfrared nonlinear crystal LiInSe2

Abstract

Thermal conductivity and thermal-expansion of the midinfrared nonlinear crystal LiInSe2 were analyzed. It was suggested that LiInSe 2 could become an alternative to the widely spread and commercially available chalcopyrite nonlinear crystal AgGaS2. It was found that LiInSe2 has a maximum nonlinear susceptibility in the group of crystals, described by the formula a LiBC2 and it was 50% higher than that in the isostructural LiInS2. It was observed that the data obtained from thermal expansion can be used for estimation of the the residual absorption losses using the calorimetric techniques.
