Abstract
This monograph describes the process of replacing toponyms in Kazakhstan. Official documents on the registration of geographical objects, completed studies on the topic, and the emergence of problems of general standardization and recording of toponyms are discussed. Currently, the documents that were the basis for this process, and on what basis they were selected for it, have been studied. An overview of the differences and distinct features in writing the names of geographical objects in Kazakh and other languages is made
