The present proposal is comprised of three objectives each of which contains two work-packages. The first objective concerns the photonic inverse design of simple setups, the second one is related to the translation of certain photonic concepts into quantum matter waves and the third one covers the study on the stability of nonlinear and active electromagnetic structures. As long as this proposal is approved, it is planned to act as a vessel of bringing several young Kazakh scientists, currently working with the Principal Investigator (PI) in contact with the forefront of global research within the area of photonic and quantum metamaterials. Such an ambition, is fully compatible with the National Strategy 2050 of the Republic of Kazakhstan [1] where “staying on the edge of new technological waves and creating absolute innovations” is defined as a top priority for the country. Even though the nature of the work is mainly theoretical, there will be the chance of fabricating, measuring and testing of the derived optimal prototypes via the network of the external collaborators of this proposal, hosted by several well-established institutions (Harvard, Cornell, EPFL, VirginiaTech, CUNY, AUTH).
