Project Description

Purpose of project: The overarching goal of the proposed research is to assess the role of a novel biomarker of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) – Collagen Triple Helix Repeat Containing 1 (CTHRC1) – in joint erosion through the regulation of activation, expansion, and invasion of the arthritic pannus, a special tissue that destructs joints of RA patients. Our proposed research will focus on the role of CTHRC1 in the invasiveness of synoviocytes, the predominant non-immune cells present in synovial tissue that are the key drivers of joint erosion.
